The Other Dog

Towards the end of last year – or thereabouts (my sense of human time not always very precise) – Mom started going into a new office space in downtown MP.

Shortly after her arrival, a pup named Riva started visiting her office. At first Mom didn’t say anything about her to us – but of course we knew she was hanging out with another dog the moment she walked into our house that first day. Apparently, Riva seeks out Mom whenever she (Mom) is in the office. In fact, reports have been issued to us that Riva has a special KEB dance/hug she only performs for our Mom. But then we also hear that Mom seeks Riva out, as she loves Riva, and doesn’t always encourage the best pup behavior (what???).

There are some days that she is trapped with her parents in the conference room across the hallway from Mom’s office – which doesn’t prevent her from keeping a close eye on any movement that Mom may make. Nor does it keep Mom from giving her kisses…

Since these initial interactions with Mom, we (Zoe and I) have had a number of adventures with Riva. But those are stories for another day!

Best,

PS: Zoe is still Mom’s favorite black pooch…at least for now. 😉😎 Luckily Mom has a big heart.

Whisper to a Scream

Recently, we went out to lunch with someone who was a summer intern from Brazil who worked in the same lab as Dad back in the day and her new husband – they happen to live in the next town over now!

Anyhow, all through their meal, Zoe and I behaved admirably – except the few times a couple of pigeons got to close to us and Zoe thought they’d make a nice little meal. And that was despite a swimming pool* right next to our table.

As a reward, we were promised a swim in the pools* that are in the complex where our Mom works. However, we never made it there as we instead, drove our two new friends back to their abode (or whatever the equivalent word is in Portuguese).

I shared the back seat with them who I really enjoyed hanging out with during our ride. In fact, when we got to their place and they got out I did my hound baying noise trying to convince them to stay – to no avail.

However, the next day, Dad took us on a surprise trip to the pools* near Mom’s work – it being a Monday she was there.

Here is Zoe (finally) noticing that Mom is in the office behind these windows. I of course spotted her right off the bat.

After we went in to say hello to her (and possibly steal a treat or two) we went back outside so Zoe could take her swim.

Then we were off to the dog park I mentioned in a recent blog (was it the last one?). There are more stories I have about this park but on this occasion, we met Whisper – a husky-type dog – who was there with his Fathers.

We immediately started playing chase with her (well after some dog-style introductions) which I think kind of intimidated her – it being a two on one game. Then Zoe started in on her barking. I assume she was not happy with how Whisper was not playing the game to her satisfaction – thus the dramatic yelps.

The games continued and her Parents were laughing since apparently Whisper was getting a bit of her own medicine. They told Dad she was usually the one directing the action in the yard. That is until Zoe showed up.

After a few more runs around the fire hydrant, and up the dog only ramp (I read this on the side of this park structure), Whisper took to a Zoe/Tempi “proof” refuge.

Although we have been back on a few occasions, we unfortunately haven’t seen her again. We may have to target the day/time window of this picture as maybe that way we can play again.
